May 5 release: awards & badges, in-page RSVP, redesigned public event page

Three big things landed at the end of April. Awards turn every event into a story daters can keep. The new in-page RSVP makes signing up feel native instead of a redirect-and-pray. And the public event page that hosts share now looks like a real preview when it lands in a group chat.

For daters

• Awards & designed badges. Every dater earns badges from the events they attend — most matched, best conversationalist, life of the night, and more. They show up in a 3-column grid on your profile, tap-to-expand for the story behind each one.
• In-page RSVP sheet. Tap RSVP on a public event link and the registration sheet slides up right there — no more bouncing through an auth page just to say yes.
• Profile: warn before discarding edits. If you start editing your profile and back out without saving, you’ll get a confirm sheet instead of silently losing your changes.
• Faster photo cropper. The cropper got a themed UI to match the rest of the app, and your photos now compress to JPEG on the way out — smaller uploads, the same quality, faster everywhere.

For hosts

• Host analytics redesign. The dashboard moved to a single unified card system — same radius, same spacing, no random shadows. Reads faster, feels less like a database printout.
• Announcements 2.0. Attach a photo, write a subject line, and your announcements now show with the event header so daters know what they’re reading at a glance.
• Live announcement updates + push polish. Daters see your announcements appear in real time. The push notification finally arrives at the right speed.
• Matches sheet with purple treatment. Mutual matches get their own visual language so they stand out from one-way picks — both for daters reviewing their night and for hosts moderating their event.
• Redesigned public event page. The link you share (dash.dating/e/<your-slug>) now has a new card system and finally previews well in iMessage, WhatsApp, and group chats — not just a bare link.

Across the board

• New unified card design pattern — one corner radius, no shadows, consistent everywhere.
• Settings host promo got the new card treatment.
• Notification drill-ins now push instead of replace, so back returns you to the notification list.

Why we built this

Awards are the “why come back” piece of the puzzle. Most daters at a typical event leave with zero matches — the math just doesn’t work for everyone. We wanted everyone to leave with something they earned. Badges turn an event into a story, not just a match count.

The in-page RSVP came out of watching too many new daters bounce when the auth redirect felt like a bait-and-switch. They tapped the share link expecting to RSVP, hit an auth screen, and didn’t come back. Now the RSVP sheet slides up in place — same page, no surprises.

The public event page redesign is for hosts who share their link in group chats. The old preview was a bare link with no image. The new one previews like a real event card.
